John the Baptist was approaching the end of his ministry. He had preached Christ and repentance. We don't tend to think of John as a joy filled man but in reality he was. The source of that joy was that he treasured Jesus Christ and filled the calling he was given. If we want to have true joy it begins with loving, treasuring and delighting in the person of Christ. Our joy will be complete when we obey the calling to make him known to the world.
