Christ Jesus suffered and died as the chief servant of God. Yet his suffering was not for his own sin or wrong, it was for us. As our gracious substitute, he bears our guilt and takes our place to pay the wages our sin and rebellion have earned, namely, eternal death. In this way, his suffering is supremely fruitful! Through his blood, we redeemed. The enmity between God and us is taken away as we are reconciled and made one with our Lord and Savior. This doctrine is the heart of the gospel and the source of our eternal hope! Let us rest securely in the care of the crucified and risen Son of God!
