The book of Exodus is where Scripture begins explicitly speaking about the "Glory of God". The nearness of the glory cloud meant the presence of god with His people. The glory cloud brought the people into communion with the Lord, yet it's simultaneously excluded most of the people, most of the time, from intimacy with it. But in Christ Jesus, we see the glory of God manifested not in judgment or fear but in communion and intimacy. Jesus, the Glory of God Incarnate, has secured for us salvation and peace!
