Does the church replace Israel? Does God have a plan to fulfill the promises made to Abraham's physical descendants in the future or does the church fulfill these promises today in a spiritual sense? Paul asks and answers this question in Romans 11. God has not cast away the Jews. Israel's rejection of the gospel is only partial for Paul himself was a Jew who accepted Jesus as his Messiah. And Israel's rejection is only temporary for one day, when the "fullness of the Gentiles' has come in, God will once again turn His full attention to the Jewish people. At Christ's second coming, all Israel will be saved when Jesus establishes His kingdom here on earth. Our attitude towards Jewish people today should be one of humility that we are recipients of God's grace, one of love and compassion for them, and a desire to see them come to embrace Jesus as their Messiah. And like Paul we can praise God for His marvelous future plan for Israel.
