Theme: Followers of Christ can have confidence and peace as they are called to proclaim God's truth in difficult circumstances and times. In v. 3, there is a warning of danger. As we go to share the good news, we need to be aware that the world is hostile to the message of the gospel. Realizing who we are in Christ can bring great comfort and peace. He is our Shepherd. He has sent us out and will provide for our needs. In v. 4, the command to travel lightly is given. We can learn from this that time is short, we should not be encumbered by distractions but make the best use of our time because the days are evil. In vv. 5-8, we find the instructions given for interactions. We are bringing the gospel of peace! We are to be faithful in preaching the message and trust God. There is power in the Word of God when it is proclaimed!
