During His earthly ministry Jesus sent our some of His followers out on two short term evangelistic tours. He first sent His twelve Apostles, and next He sent the seventy. He sent them out in pairs two by two to preach the gospel, heal diseases, and cast out demons. But before He sent them out, He equipped them by giving very specific practical instructions about how to go about the work He had assigned them. In this message we learn that He spoke of: 1.) Their audience, 2.) Their content 3.) Their livelihood, 4.)Their residence, and 5.) Their rejection. Even so, God's people today need to be given practical instruction in order to be equipped to carry on the good work of evangelism. But Jesus did not only verbally instruct His disciples, He emulated His instruction by His own life so that they had an example to follow. May He make us into fervent fishers of men as well!
