SHAPES OF THE LOCUST: Pundits have identified these locusts as everything from a P-38 plane in World War II to Genghis Kahn and his army invading the Middle East. The appropriate approach for interpretation is more literal as the creatures have features that are part animal, part insect, and part man. They could be partially degenerated men experiencing a metamorphism to a worm state in Hell. More likely, they are beings that God has prepared for this moment. The Bible never mentions the Bottomless Pit ever being cast into the lake of fire. Therefore, there would be no second death for them as will be for the inhabitants of Hell (Revelation 6: 8). These creatures have a king over them and are a literal army set loose to roam the earth creating havoc and chaos. CROWNS LIKE GOLD: These are imitation crowns thus; they are LIKE gold. HAIR OF WOMEN: This would be long hair (1 Corinthians 11:14-15; John 12:3). FIVE MONTHS: The length of time concerning the locusts hurting man.
