There is a continual problem for us as humans as we have the tendency to elevate man to a position of worship.
Celebrities, famous figures, musicians, and other people of influence.
We elevate them, and we can become "star-struck," where our perception of an individual can change the way we view them as "larger than life."
We can do this to others, and we ourselves can find ourselves on the receiving end of this.
Where people give you praise and accolades and make you feel special, needed, well thought of, and important.
There is nothing wrong with giving or receiving these items of praise; however, if left unchecked, it can boost your pride, ego, and self-worth.
It can increase your self-worth, thinking of yourself more highly than you ought.
Or, the reciprocal can happen when you do not receive these positive affirmations, and comments, and accolades; it leads you to think you are worthless or you somehow are of less value than others because you find your self-worth in the comments of others.
When you look to others for affirmation, you will begin to worship the praise of man rather than you giving praise to God.
This scenario plays out perfectly in this section of the text as Paul and Barnabas go through this situation.
