A theme in 13:44-14:7 the author Luke conveys is the continual pressure against Paul and Barnabas on their missionary journey. The pressure came from a spirit of jealousy from those individuals of prestige because of the large crowds gathering to hear the message they were proclaiming. Those rejecting Paul and Barnabas also persuaded those hearing the message to run them out of those districts pushing Paul to other cities to declare the gospel truths. An essential item to note is the perseverance demonstrated by Paul as he was ridiculed and rejected. The rejection did not halt Paul & Barnabas from continuing the mission they were sent out to do.
