In today’s passage, we are going to get a glimpse of “A Day in the Life of Jesus.” The Apostle John recorded at the end of his gospel, “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen” (John 21:25). Jesus did so much in such a short time that all the libraries in the world could not contain the works or the inspiration which these works moved the hearts of the people during His time on earth. However, we are thankful to God for having recorded the 4 Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in order for us to see the reality of Jesus’ life. As we read this passage today, I can almost hear the Apostle Peter telling Mark some of his earlier recollections of the life and ministry of Jesus. It’s would be like when your parents or grandparents said, “Let me tell you about a day I’ll never forget.” With a pen in hand, the Mark, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, records for us “A Day in the Life of Jesus Christ.” It begins on the Sabbath day (Saturday) and carries on into Sunday morning. From this passage, let us consider 1) Jesus’ Advancement of the Kingdom 2) Jesus’ healing ministry 3) Jesus’ life of prayer and preaching.
