Pastor David writes: It is important to recognize that the one and true living God is both transcendent and immanent. God is transcendent meaning that He is infinitely above and beyond us. He cannot be fully understood by humans, particularly outside of what He has chosen to reveal about Himself in the Holy Scriptures. He who orders all things cannot be controlled by those things. Yet, God is immanent also. He is present in time and space, and He is near us. When we call the Lord Immanuel, we are saying that God is with us. God knows His people better than we know ourselves. He calls them by name. He calls us to salvation by grace and calls us to service in His glorious kingdom. Both of these callings result in blessings beyond what we can imagine. Thank God He has given us ears to hear and hearts to obey! He is our very great reward!
