We claim to believe in the sovereignty of God. What about when the rubber meets the road? Do you live as if you believe in the sovereignty of God? Or are you just trying to get a question on a theology test correct? Acts 12 shows us God’s sovereignty and God's work behind the scenes. God was doing something amazing and great and something for God’s people to believe and receive for their blessing. Acts 12 shows us God's sovereignty and His work behind the scenes. 1. Before God worked, the people began to pray. They knew what to do when trouble came. They prayed! Peter was put in maximum security so that he could not escape. But something was going on outside the prison in the house of Mary. Prayer was made without ceasing unto God. We too often seek out the arm of the flesh, but not so these people. 2. When the people prayed, God answered their prayer Unbeknownst to the people, God was working behind the scenes. We have great miracle here. A miracle from start to finish like God calming the raging seas or blind Bartimaeus given sight. Peter is sound asleep. God gives his beloved sleep. God is very able to take circumstance that are seemingly hopeless and turning them right around. Do you realize God is working for you? You may not know what He is doing but oh that we would have the faith that knows that He is working. 3. When the answer came the people didn't believe it. Comical? Or tragic? Rhoda recognized Peter's voice but did not open the door. She ran to tell the people but they said that was absurd since he is in jail. Rhoda you are crazy. How gracious is our God! Even in our weak faith, God is faithful. Don't limit the Lord in our praying. John 4:49-50.
