Instead, one primary purpose of the law is to show us that we are sinners in need of Jesus as revealed in the gospel. The apostle Paul demonstrates this by giving specific examples of how people violate the 10 Commandments. The law without the gospel is diagnosis without remedy, yet the gospel without the legitimate teaching of the law can bypass repentance and a true salvation experience.
