Today, we are going to look at Galatians 3:1-9. Paul will be addressing the Galatians directly as he had already confronted them about deserting Christ and turning to a different gospel. The churches had come under a spell. The hocus pocus of the false teachers had fascinated the churches, and they were turning away from the Holy Spirit, faith, and the wisdom of the gospel and beginning to trust in the arm of the flesh, works of the law, and foolishness of a counterfeit gospel. This was dangerous, but Paul was courageous to ask them some questions. These are relevant for the church today. Let’s examine these questions and see how Paul answers them. The truth of the gospel is at stake (2:5, 14). Today, we will see that salvation has always been by grace through faith. There were two points I will to make in this message. First, we will look at the personal experience of justification by faith (3:1-5). The Galatians had experienced the grace of God when they heard the Word of God preached by Paul and Barnabas and believed the message. Paul uses the first five verses to address them by their experiences. Second, we will look at the patriarchal example of justification by faith (3:6-9). Paul will take us back to the father of faith and the patriarch of the Jewish nation. Hopefully, by the time we finish today, you will be encouraged knowing that your salvation was received the same way as Abraham and every other saint who have trusted in our Covenant-Keeping God.
