What do you own? I mean really own? Ownership implies you have total control over an asset for your entire term of possession. The key is the "time of possession". Because we are mortal, eventually everything we "own" ends up with another "owner". The truth is ownership is really an illusion. We think we own a lot, when in fact, we own nothing--everything belongs to God.
For over 25 years I had a daily radio broadcast entitled, God's Money, where we spoke about the Biblical principles of managing wealth. The show could really be summed in one sentence, "God owns everything and we are stewards of what he has given to us to manage.
In Acts 4, the new church of Jesus, in an attempt to be in "one accord", taught that the believers where best served when they shared a common passion (one passion), one heart, one soul, and they were to have all things in common. They even used an uncommon Greek word, "homothymadon", which the translators translated as "one accord", which is a compound word made up of "homo--same or in union with" and "thymadon--passion for a fight". In this study we look closely at the times this word is used by Luke to express this idea that being in one accord with one another finds its root in being in one accord with God as a temporary steward of HIs resources.
BUt really this study comes down to one question: "What is important--God or money?"
