What happens when a person fails to repent toward God and believe the gospel? Jesus' above statement makes us think. What if someone builds a world empire filled with political, economic, national, and social power, but neglects His own soul. Nineveh had built itself up in the world. The city had risen to prominence with worldly power, dominance, and influence. Nineveh was on top of their game, filled with pride, at full strength, fearless, and had strength in numbers. However, they were not in the majority. God plus one saint is a majority. Nineveh had everything in the world but God. This describes many in our world today—full of the world, but having no hope, and without God in the world (Eph. 2:12). What can a wordly individual who does not know God and is not seeking Him for salvation expect if they die without God? Paul explains clearly in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ; 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power." The LORD of hosts is coming! Are you ready? Are you distracted by worldly blessings? Will you end up losing your soul. This would be one of the saddest stories of all. The title of this message will be "All is Lost." |
