In verse 23 it says that when Barnabas came to Antioch he saw the grace of God. Is it possible to see the grace of God? Evidently it is, or it would not have been written down for our benefit. The next question that we should ask ourselves is this: What does the grace of God look like, if you can see it, as Barnabas did? Well, I think that these verses tell us what that means. 1st of all – It means that if you are a Christian, people who know the Lord ought to be able to see your repentance. (verse 18) 2nd – It means that if you are a Christian, people who know the Lord ought to be able to see your faith – Your turning to the Lord. (verses 19-21) And 3rd – It means that if you are a Christian, people who know the Lord ought to be able to see your perseverance, your continuing with the Lord. (verse 22-24) I pray that as you hear this message that you will think about your own life, and your own profession of faith, and make sure that you are a true Christian; that you have been savingly brought to Christ, and that your life shows forth the evidence of the grace which is at work in your heart, but which others can see as well.
