God is My Salvation - Message 45 - The Shadow on the Sundial - Isaiah 38:1-39:8. Hezekiah is sick and receives word from Isaiah that he is going to die. He has no heir and his nation is under threat from the Assyrians. But as he prepares to die, he turns to the Lord and prays and weeps. God immediately sends word back through Isaiah that his life will be extended and his nation will be spared. In desperation he cried out, then he rejoiced, and as he was restored to health he slipped back into the sin of relying on his own resources instead of the Lord for deliverance. Hezekiah serves as an example for Judah and shows how God will deal with them through the captivity even after a time of reprieve and revival under Josiah. We learn then a valuable lesson about how to be ready to die and how to live as God gives us another day!
