Endurance to Last for the Finish_09 Series: A Faith That Lasts James 5:1-12 God has called us to live out the principle of endurance. That means, simply, to stick with it and never give up. Over the years I've known many Christians who have given up on the Christian life in one way or another. Some have completely abandoned the faith. Some have just abandoned the dream they once had of achieving greatness for the glory of God, and instead settled into a life a lazy, self-centered weakness. Why? Because it got too hard. They wanted to do good, but they expected it to be easy. That's not how the Christian life is. God has promised us a great life, but not an easy life. So as James begins to bring his letter to a close, he addresses the topic of endurance. God is not opposed to wealth. There is the wrong uses of wealth to avoid. The right uses of wealth to practice. Learning to wait is a hard lesson to learn in Life. James shows us when, Why, and how to develop patience. God is in control. It may be out of my control, but it's not out of God's Control. God is working behind the scenes for a purpose.
