I know I have harped a lot on these 11 verses at the beginning of Hebrews 4. I have parked here and kept on preaching to you about rest. Why? Because you need to rest; because there is a general ignorance about the Sabbath day even in Christian circles; because I want to proclaim the whole counsel of God; and because some Christian teachers have dared to use this passage to argue that we need not keep any day holy. For all these reasons, then, we are taking one last flight over this text before going on to the next verses of Hebrews 4. What I want to press upon you this morning is this: Because a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God, you need to strive with all your might to enter that rest, just your Father and Savior did.
