The book of Nahum is written between 663 and 612BC. Almost a century has passed since the days of Jonah. The revival of Jonah's day had worn off. The Assyrian Empire had grown powerful and strong and more wicked every day. In 722BC, the Assyrians had overtaken the 10 northern tribes of Israel. They were more proud and powerful than ever, but their empire and their beloved city would come to an end. Justice would be served. This morning, we want to get a glimpse of God. For the child of God, we should find great comfort in this book. We worship God who is all-powerful, just, and will take down the wicked. The LORD is our refuge and strength. However for the wicked, this knowledge and understanding of God is terrifying. The title of today's message will be, "The Saint's Stronghold in the Day of Trouble" We will consider the 1) Description of God's Power (2-3a) 2) Demonstration of God's Power(3-6) 3) Delighting in God's Power (7-8) .
