Charles Spurgeon said: âGod has given us two books, and He wrote them both. He has given the âworld-book' and the âWord-book'.â The âworld-book' is creation. The âWord-book' is the Bible. The first is known in theological circles as God's general revelation. The second is referred to as special revelation.
Psalm 19 tells us about both of these books. Verses one through six speak of God's disclosure of Himself in creation (âthe heavens declare the glory of GodâŠâ). Verses seven through fourteen speak of God's revelation of Himself through Scripture. The two closely parallel each other. Both declare God's glory. Both are always speaking to men. In the Word we find a âtabernacleâ for the âSun of righteousnessâ (v. 4).
Do you want to be transformed? Do not seek an âextreme makeoverâ through human sources. Just submit to God's Word. It is sufficient for life hereafter and for godliness while here on earth. Even if you have been broken and defeated, it can restore you. Unleash its power in your life by believing it, hiding it in your heart, and living by its precepts. Make it your manual for life.
