Living in this world means living with enemies. We should be most guarded against the enemies of our soul. Satan masquerades as an angel of light. After 3400 years, our enemy today is that of the Gibeonites. Israel's great warrior is the same great warrior today who will defeat the enemies of our soul. In the book of Joshua, we see how God is faithful to his people, especially in times of battle. The nature of our enemy is uncompromising and the world, the flesh, and Satan refuse to let go. Sin won't go away on its own. Sometimes, sin will lay dormant in order to hide. Then, when the circumstances are right, it will erupt again. Enemies will always attack us in our weaknesses. In Joshua 10:19, we see the Lord is a warrior who fights for His people. Verse 10 is explicit about who is fighting the battle. Who is the Great Warrior? It is the Lord. When battling sin, you do not have to fight it alone. Jesus fights for his people by fighting through his people. Come to your elders or your pastor. Confess your sin and find people who will love you with grace and mercy and walk through it with you. It is hard to look at the decay of our country and maintain any sense of hope. It looks like God is going to allow the country to crumble under the weight of sin. Every elect person in this country will be saved. Jesus will not lose a single person whom God the Father has given to Him. Jesus fights through divine protection. when the armor of God is protecting you, there isn't a weapon formed on earth that can harm your soul. Jesus fights by sovereignly ruling all things for His people's good.
