"When our journey takes us into the valley, it’s needful that we remember that He is with us there. His presence isn’t measured by my sensing of it, but by the sureness of His promise. His delight in me doesn’t ebb and flow with my spiritual strength but is an immovable rock, grounded in His fidelity. My feelings are not the constant in a world of flux, but are the flux in His world of constancy." —R.C. Sproul Jr. Legonier Ministries Today we want to walk into the valley. It is hard for us as people to look at the valley of the Shadow of Death. We hate it. It is separation, end, pain, violence... It generates fear, depression, and a host of other emotions, yet it is a place that we all go. I remember listening to a speaker tell me as a young man that life was hard and painful, I had not experienced much pain and it was hard to identify, yet within the next six months, I would lose a friend and almost lose my cousin. It happened. For most of us, we are aware that part of Life is Death and the best humanly speaking that we can hope for is a long life and a peaceful death. The valley exists and we will all pass through it, some of us will enter it a couple of times and even live there for a while. Today we are going to start looking at the valley and at the Lord of Life as He deals with it
