I believe these verses contain a single beatitude with a double emphasis. There are two things that are emphasized - persecution and blessing. The fact that persecution is mentioned twice makes the matter certain. Persecution, in other words is inevitable for the people of God. In this study we consider how to prepare for the inevitable. We must 1. Face the Inevitable. 2. We must realize our blessings 3. We must rise above the world in the power of our blessings.
