We want to walk with the wise and do as the Lord does. The mocker thinks that wisdom is foolish. Wisdom protects us from disaster, while the foolish get destroyed. Wisdom is agreeing with God's perspective on things. When we guard our lips, we guard our lives. It is not that we do not speak, it is that we should not speak rashly. The desires of the lazy are not rewarded, but the desires of the diligent are rewarded. We need to walk with the wise, if we do, we will become wise. The righteous hate what is false and we should hate lies because God does. We live in a world that has a messed up value system. There are some things that God wants us to desire. For example, we should want to receive correction. The way to leave blessings for others is to save little by little and work diligently. There are times when poverty comes through injustice, there are other times when it comes through bad choices, laziness, and wanting to get rich quick. Walking in wisdom does not produce a miserable life. If we set our hearts on pleasing God, we will have our hopes fulfilled.
