God has sovereignly chosen the Nation of Israel as the nation that belongs to Himself. He has chosen to bring redemption to the Nation Israel, but there is a problem. The Nation Israel has rejected that redemption. That has resulted in the Nation Israel being rejected by God, and God now bringing salvation to the Gentiles. Paul, in Romans, Chapter 11, is talking about how the salvation of Jew and Gentile relates together. Important for us to understand, that even though God has rejected the Nation Israel, that rejection is not a final rejection, but rather God has temporarily rejected or set aside the Nation Israel, so that He might focus His salvation on Gentiles.
