We sometimes think of what we lost at the Fall. Do we think of what our Maker lost? Since that time he has been searching and saving the lost - in Jesus parable the sheep was lost; it was also the shepherd's loss. We had become strangers, taken over by sin, Satan, and death. But God has a desire for the work of his hands (Job 14:15). Through his prophet Hosea he says he cannot bring himself to give them up. The price of redemption was the blood of the Son. That act two millennia ago allows forgiveness to be made now. God calls us to have personal dealings with him; he shows us Christ and calls us to receive him .As we welcome our blessed Redeemer the relationship broken at the Fall is restored. God now has our trust, loyalty, love, and service. He builds on that as he forms the church, calling us to 'love one another'. This was a mystery we would never have known if his gospel had not reached us. Indeed, how shall we escape if we neglect it? Society takes notice when we live as one in Christ Jesus and gladly subject to his rule. We sometimes make the mistake of thinking about reconciliation only in personal terms. But it unites generations! and it even involves creation as a whole (Romans 8). All this is from God, and is the result of the Father's love, the Son's death and resurrection, and the Spirit's work in our heart.
