He has a heart of compassion for them. He longs to see Israel come to the salvation that is found in Jesus Christ alone. He recognizes that Israel is a people that are earnest and zealous in seeking righteousness. The problem is that they are looking for righteousness in themselves, in their own efforts. Similar to what we have in the emphasis in the world today, you know, you look within yourselves, you find strength there, you find ability there and that is what Israel is doing: by their own efforts, by their own works.
