Is. 55:6-7 reads as follows: "Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the LORD, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon."
This text tells us that God must be sought while He is capable of being found, implying that God does not always make Himself findable. Call upon Him while He is near -- near through the preaching of the Word, near through the invitation of the gospel, near by means of His convicting you of sin. Call upon Him then, not later. Deal with Him now, not after awhile. If you delay, if you put Him off and procrastinate, He may depart and never come back. And you will be eternally lost.
Since we don't believe in decisional regeneration, what does it mean to seek Him? Given that you cannot snap your fingers and make God save you this very instant, what should you do? Given that repentance and faith are gifts of God and that you can neither make yourself repent or believe, what should you do? This sermon gives practical counsel to awakened sinners who are seeking salvation. It is based on a booklet, entitled, "Spiritual Counsel for Seekers.
