Computers, smart phones, and tablets are marvelous pieces of modern technology that enable us to be more productive, that is, when they work. But sometimes they appear sluggish, confused, overwhelmed. The remedy: Be rebooted. They need to be shut down and restarted with a fresh copy of the operating system. What happens to computers also happens to people. The apostle John is overwhelmed with everything that he has seen and experienced. In Revelation 10, God reboots John. He shuts John down, tells him not to write. He gives John a fresh perspective, God's perspective that the end is just about here! The worst is yet to come, but there is light at the end of the tunnel-- the second coming of Jesus Christ and the establishment of His kingdom on earth. After the fresh perspective, God reboots him for service by returning to the basics: Ingesting, digesting, and then expressing God's Word. John will again pick up his quill to write the rest of the prophetic events he will see.
