With the blowing of the fifth trumpet, death takes a vacation. For five months the earth dwellers will suffer greatly by demonic torture, but will be unable to escape it through death. But with the blowing of the sixth trumpet judgment, death returns with a vengeance. An army of 200 million led by four demons will kill one-third of the world's population. This is in addition to the one-fourth of the world's population that died as a result of the fourth sealed judgment, plus others who died from the various earthquakes and plagues. The Antichrist and the world leaders will pin the blame for all of these catastrophes and death on the two witnesses who have been warning of impending judgment. Up until this time they are invincible, but God will withdraw his protection, and the Antichrist will finally be able to kill them. The earth dwellers will rejoice, thinking that the troublemakers are dead. But after 3 1/2 days, as the world watches, God will raise them from the dead and call them to heaven! Another earthquake follows. God gives people another opportunity to repent and believe: Some do, but the majority refuse and are hardened in their unbelief.
