So, the field, Jesus says, is the world, but as we think about what is being said here, we must conclude that "the world" here includes and has its special focus on the churches in the whole world. The visible church in the world is the Kingdom of heaven here upon the earth. This is where the good seed of the wheat is planted and grows, and this is where the devil sows his tares in the form of people who are attending that church, or who want to join a church. Sometimes they are brought into the church. The Tares come in among the wheat, not because the Son of Man didn't sow good seed in His field. They come in because the devil wants to counterfeit sons of this kingdom of heaven, and so he sows people into churches who look like Christians, but who are not Christians. They they will even make profession of faith in Christ, but then after a time, they will show themselves to be children of the devil by their words and their works.
