Confessing sin is a sign of a true Christian. True Christians confess sin; they don't deny sin. Christians confess sin as sin. They don't minimize it and use euphemisms to describe it. If they have been stingy, they confess it as stinginess; they don't call it good stewardship. If they have lost their temper, they confess it as unrighteous anger; they don't call it forthrightness. If they are cowardly, they confess their sin as cowardice; they don't call it gentleness or caution. The good news is that if we confess our sins, Christ forgives us our sin. There is absolutely no reason to run in the bushes and sew on fig leaves when we have a merciful and sympathetic high priest who will forgive us. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
