Even though Abram and Lot were brethren, both physically and spiritually, it took the initiative of Abram to make peace between them, and it was Abram's work as a peacemaker that shows a maturity in him that God could further reward. I hope that you do believe this morning that God rewards faithfulness. During the test of our faith, it may seem that we are not going to receive the reward of our faithfulness. But that is always God's way. He wants to see if we will live by his principles or the world's. Christ says in the Beatitudes, in Matthew5: 9, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." And verse 5, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." Now these are the principles that the Christian needs grace and wisdom from God to live out, but God would have him find the truth of them by that grace. This is what Abram did. And so we will ask the question this morning, "What does being a peacemaker involve in Abram's life, and in your and my life?" And the answer comes, "Being a peacemaker involves the grace and wisdom to do 4 things:
