What is related in them in terms of God's declaring what is true and false, what other saints went through in living their lives to Him in previous generations; both Old Testament and New, and what His will is, concerning what He would have us to do in the church and in our families, when we are among people of the world; all of this is written down and given to us for our instruction so that we might have patience in doing what is good and right and true, and be comforted in all of our afflictions, persecutions, and distresses by the truth of His promises, so that we might persevere during the time of our earthly sojourning, and come at last to eternal glory.
