Subjective experience and feelings must be evaluated through the objective and unchanging truth of the Word of God. To do otherwise is to live without an anchor and subject to self as the authority all the while God ultimately is, and will be, the One to whom an account for life will be given. In coming to the Word of God there are also principles of interpretation that must be applied to accurately know what God has said. A misunderstanding of God's word often comes as a result of using the word of God to establish a point, belief, or opinion that is self-derived. Clear principles of interpretation make for rightly learning and knowing the word of God to then live it out. Application and theology come from, and after, reading and observing the word, interpreting what has been said in the historical, literal, and grammatical context, and then making the application to life.
