In drawing His discourse to a close, Jesus draws a sharp contrast between those who are going on into the kingdom and those who are not. Ultimately this is the contrast between people going to heaven and those going to hell. He uses the illustrations of two kinds of destinies, two kinds of fruit, and two kinds of foundations.
In making these distinctions He revealed that the majority of people will reject Him, choosing to take the "broad way" that leads to hell. It is a narrow way, through a narrow gate that leads to eternal life with Jesus Himself being the "way" and the "gate."
Each person makes their decision in this life as to which way they will take and that decision determines their eternal destiny. He revealed that it will be the minority who believe in Him and follow Him in this life. He made it clear that only those taking the narrow way are assured of access through heaven's narrow gate.
False teachers traveling the broad way are leading the majority to destruction. They come disguised as genuine followers of Christ but give out a false message that mixes their own ideas with the Word of God. These teachers are to be evaluated and identified by their "fruits" - what they teach and how they live.
