Are you mad at God? Are you sure? Everyone has been mad at God at one point in their lives. And without exception, we are usually mad at God because we are frustrated by our circumstances. Frankly, we think God has done us wrong. God should have prevented something from happening or He should have made something else happen. Perhaps you are mad at God because of a divorce, a death in the family, a disappointing child, a miserable childhood, a handicap, an illness, a lost job, a shattered dream. Job was also mad at God. We know what terrible things happened to him. But when God showed up to speak to Job, it was not to provide answers or even to console him. It was to rebuke him for his arrogance and his speaking in ignorance. God asks Job many questions that Job cannot answer and by the time He is done, Job has repented in dust and ashes. The truth is that even in our suffering, what we need is repentance above all things. Like Job, we complain in ignorance. Like Job, we doubt God's wisdom in the management of our lives. Like Job, we arrogantly think we have the authority to summon Almighty God, who outranks us infinitely.
