Are we more inclined to pay back someone who can pay us back, or someone who cannot? Jesus says to be kind to those who cannot repay us because God was kind to us and who can repay God? It is better to get gifts from God because God gives the best gifts. We ought to treat the poor the same we treat the wealthy. Let us remember that God does not need anything from us, we need everything from Him. Instead God chose to create and redeem us.
If we show partiality, we sin, and sin is no small deal. When someone does us wrong, we need to show them mercy because God shows us mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgement. Real faith produces good works. When we are saved by what Jesus has done, we change. If we refuse to do what God says in His word, there is no reason to believe we have been saved at all. If we do not do what the word says, it is like a dead body just sitting there in a chair. Let us remember, good deeds done in the flesh will burn up in the fire. It is faith that works, not faith opposed to works. We are supposed to be doing things that God has called us to do. If you are a child of God, He has your life mapped out to complete His purposes. Our deeds are an expression of our faith. Real faith produces good works.
