Christians often mistake the means of worship as worship itself. If we are going to truly worship, we must come to the realization that worship is not for us, but for God. Because God desires our worship, we must learn how to worship him. As we approach worship, we must remember Christ (John 5:39-47, Luke 24:25-27 & 44-47)
Worship - falling at the feet of someone infinitely greater than you are.
1. Divine Revelation v1-2 - our faith and worship will be tested & tried. Why? Worship is obedience. It is doing what God tells us to do. Like Abraham. Psalm 119-34,John 4:23-24. If we don't pursue what God wants us to do, the way God wants is done, with the attitude God wants us to have?;them we are missing Godly worship.
2. Conditioned by Faith and Obedience to divine revelation. V3 - we must be faithful. When our faith is fixed on Christ and loving God it produces
works and a heart of obedience - James 2. Faith and Grace. Luke 6:46-49/John 14:15,
1 John 5:1-3. God is pleased when our heart and attitude is right and fixed on Him.
3. Involves costly presentation v.2 - 2 Samuel 24:24-25 - we pay this cost with our bodies and our lives by living properly in response to his word. The burnt offering was to be wholly consumed in ashes. Romans 12:1-2
4. Necessitates deliberate separation unto God v5- 1 John 2:15-17.Balance your life. 1 Corithians 10:31, Colossians 3:7, 1 peter 4:11
5. Results in blessings v.15-18 God responds to biblical worship with blessings. Lay up treasures in heaven. Eph 1:3. Our biggest blessing is hearing God saying "well done, good and faithful servant!". Don't worship like Cain. 1 John 1:8-9/Matthew 11:28-30 |
