INTRO: Well, we have come to verse 5 of John 14. Jesus has said, "Let not your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you." I mentioned to you that I believe He had told them about this just a day earlier. And then He said, "I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you to Myself that where I am there you may be also." And then He said, "And where I go you know, and the way you know."
Well, what He is telling them here is so far removed from what the Jewish expectations were, it seems they could not properly hear Him. And so in verse 5, our verse this morning, it says, "Thomas said to Him, 'Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?" |
