Tonight we look at the command to remember. Paul wanted Timothy to remember the gospel. Paul is imprisoned and about to leave this life and he wants Timothy to remember the gospel. This means: 1. We must be precise in our statement of the gospel (2:8) - the gospel is the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. - remembrance of this is to be the center piece of his life and preaching 2. We must esteem the sufferings for the gospel (2:9) - we suffer on this earth (physical sickness, etc) - but this suffering Paul is talking about is something different - it is suffering for the gospel - Paul suffered as he was considered a criminal for advocating the gospel 3. We must view endurance of suffering as a means for spreading the gospel (2:10)
