Jesus' disciples returned from the city with food and ask Him to eat. He responded the He had food they knew nothing of. They were focused on the natural. Jesus wanted them to understand the primacy of the spiritual--the will of God and finishing His work. Jesus was enjoying the feast of seeing a sinful woman added to the kingdom. He was about to enjoy a greater feast--seeing many from Sychar of Samaria joining this woman as new kingdom citizens.
Like the disciples, Jesus is enlisting us in the work of kingdom enlargement. We are to take the gospel to the ends of the earth and preach it to every soul. We are His witnesses and are called to join together in completing the task.
