In verse 3 of Ephesians 4 we are told that each of us should personally endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. So, each of us individually, as believers in a local church, has the responsibility in relation to the Holy Spirit's working, in relation to the truth of the word of God, to keep this unity. The reason for this is so that the whole Church of Jesus Christ, not just individual churches, might grow up into the stature of Christ, spiritually speaking.
