Aim: To be restored to higher levels of love to Christ.
Doctrine: When God restores His church, He leaves her better than she was before. Many former sins get repented of, and a fresh hope begins to prevail.
Exegesis: The qualities of blessed restoration: a sense of higher gratitude (toward God) (vv. 18-19); a state of sweeter intimacy (with God) (vv. 20-22); an assurance of holy righteousness (in God) (vv. 23-24).
Further application: How to experience the blessings of restoration: be willing to submit my life to the full gamut of God's dealings, and find renewed pleasure in Jesus (and His church).
Key verse: v. 19 ''Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.''
