Aim: To live on the lovely promises of the gospel.
Doctrine: God inscribes His good intentions towards His church with permanent ink. The Lord is not fickle in His dealings with us; the Lord may allow us to suffer but always with the assurance of deliverance.
Exegesis: God's eternal promises—all found in Jesus: that He will bring His church into the promised land (vv. 1-3); that He will raise His church up from sorrow and slavery (vv. 4-9); that He will visit His church with incarnation's encouragement (vv. 10-11).
Further application: How to enjoy God's sweet benefits: recognize that they are spiritual (which is best), and by faith, see them perfected in Christ.
Key verse: v. 2 ''Thus speaks the LORD God of Israel, saying: 'Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you.' ''
