Today’s message is taken from John 21:15-17 and is titled “Jesus Recommissions His Disciples – Feed My Sheep.â€
In this section of John’s gospel, he includes this epilogue to allow us to see Jesus giving His disciples a reemphasis of their commission, much like the other gospels do.
We see in this passage Jesus’ dialogue with Peter specifically, where He recommissions Peter, but it also applies to all of the disciples, and in fact to all elders and pastors. It also has implications for all Christians, as we’re to help each other follow Christ. We will see the Good Shepherd at work, and we’ll examine the work of a good shepherd.
