The Lord performs miracles today, but not miracles performed through men directly to prove that He has sent them with a divine message, because the canon of Scripture is closed, the Bible has been finished. The Holy Spirit convicts His elect of its truth when they read it. A prophet of God today — and a prophet is anyone who brings God's Word to others — does not need to perform miracles to convince people that their message is from God, because when the Bible is proclaimed the Holy Spirit convicts His elect of its truth.
...The difference between the Lord's miracles and Satan's counterfeits that the Lord's elect see Satan's counterfeits for what they are. The unbelieving world, not having been given spiritual discernment, swallows them whole.
Sadly, many of the more gullible fundamentalists, evangelicals and charismatics fall for Satan's parlor tricks such as 'miracle healing revivals.' God's elect who know their Bible and have hidden it in their hearts know the difference.
... The walls of Jericho fell down, the archaeologists admit, but it must have been an earthquake. And if Jesus raised a dead person to life right in front of their eyes, wouldn't that convince them? No, it would not: Reprobate man would say, “That's impressive, but not a miracle. Science just hasn't yet discovered how that works.” Lk 16:31: “If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”
...Satan is able to counterfeit fire from heaven, as he did in the matter of Elijah and the prophets of Baal. Why should we assume that Satan cannot counterfeit this miracle today?
