Understanding the significance of the teaching in Hebrews is needful to know how ministry is to be carried on in the church today. The pattern set forth by God through Aaron and his descendents is not to be practiced or followed today as it functioned as a part of the Levitical system under the Mosaic Covenant. To acknowledge men as priests today is to deny the high priestly ministry of Jesus Christ. Scripture makes explicitly clear that no man is a mediator between God and man as the priest functioned other than the man Christ Jesus. Salvation was never provided for or attained by keeping the Law of the Mosaic Covenant. The power of the high priestly ministry of Jesus Christ is His ongoing, unending position and the perfection His Self-sacrifice provides.

Also the Inadequacy of the RCC Priesthood I am trying to refrain from commenting on Gil's sermons, because being a member of IHCC others who aren't may think I'm "gilding the lily." Sometimes there are what some might consider secondary threads in Gil's sermons, which many of you would find extremely interesting.
In this sermon, there is a rare mention of Church Fathers usually ignored by most pastors, and examples given where some of these "Fathers," went strangely wrong. Finding any good commentary on at least some actions by some Church Fathers is difficult. Gil gives a fine explanation of where several of the Fathers were wrong in connecting Christ to the Levitical priesthood. So given a listen to this sermon, for that reason!
I have found a learned commentary about Theology Adrift of many of the Church Fathers, q.v.,

But such articles are not that easily found.
Also, interesting this sermon, and the one following does an overall excellent job explaining the folly of the Romish priesthood.
In the fall of 1969, Gil began a full-time teaching ministry as Senior Pastor of Indian Hills Community Church. He also earned his Ph.D. from the California Graduate School of Theology. The focus of Pastor Rugh’s ministry is systematic, verse-by-verse teaching of the Bible. As a...
